Eric Friedl started the Goner Records label in 1993, releasing the Japanese band Guitar Wolf’s WOLF ROCK lp and the Oblivians “Call The Shots” 7″. The label continued in a sporadic fasion until 2004, when Friedl partnered with Zac Ives to create Goner Records as a brick and mortal operation. The label was reinvigorated, and an inventory of quality lps and 45s was acquired. The store also hosts the yearly Gonerfest festival, bringing over 30 bands in 4 days to venues in the Midtown Memphis/Shelby County. Consistently voted Best Record Store New and Best Record Store Used in the Memphis Flyer Reader’s Poll.
